Seventh Sunday of Easter

Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,
I hope that everyone has a blessed Memorial Day weekend! We are also celebrating the time between Ascension Thursday (last Thursday) and Pentecost, when the apostles waited for the Holy Spirit to come down upon them. In many ways that wait is like our time now: we know Christ is in heaven and we await His return. We live in a strange final age when Christ has conquered sin and death, but that victory is awaiting its final manifestation at the end of time. We are in a strange already and not yet: we face the cross, suffering, anxiety, sin, and death, and yet we know they no longer have the final word. We live in an age of hope and await the fulfillment of that hope which will bring us the joy we all long for. Let us pray this week that the Holy Spirit will lead us through this age just as He did the apostles at Pentecost. We are still on our pilgrimage on earth, but as long as we keep our faith and hope alive we know that we will reach our destination–eternal life with God in heaven. And while on that journey make sure to enjoy the little things too—even grilling out with family and friends on Memorial Day!
Have a blessed week,
Fr. Boniface
