Second Sunday of Lent

by Fr. Boniface Endorf, O.P.

Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,

I pray that Lent is going well for everyone and that you’re starting to experience the graces of this season. By this point our penances start to feel less fun and new and the real work of striving to follow God more closely begins. Hang in there: God truly is at work in this season.

I want to announce a new ministry starting in in 2 Wednesdays: the Post Cana marriage group. It’s for all married couples who want to go deeper in their marriages and to realize more fully the graces God gives through the sacrament of marriage. It’s named for the pre-Cana course that prepares couples for marriage, but now it’s Post Cana because it’s support for couples after marriage. Cana is the town where Christ instituted marriage as a sacrament when He turned water in wine at the wedding reception (John 2:1-11). It will meet every 4th Wednesday of the month at 7pm in the parish hall, and the first meeting is Wednesday the 23rd.

One last note: a couple of researchers from a museum in Maine came here last week to take pictures of our Transfiguration fresco. They are interested in it because it’s the oldest extant true fresco in the United States. One of them is writing a short history of the fresco that, when ready, I’ll put in the bulletin.

Have a blessed week,
Fr. Boniface
