Third Sunday of Lent
by Fr. Boniface Endorf, OP
Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,
We’re now into the middle of Lent and I pray that it has been fruitful for everyone so far. If it hasn’t gone as well as hoped, there is still time to take advantage of the graces of this season. Don’t give up: you can still experience great spiritual growth this Lent.
Looking forward, our parish mission will again be the week before Holy Week, 4/6-9. Fr. James Sullivan, OP, will be our mission preacher. He’s very funny and a great preacher, so I encourage everyone to attend. The mission will be Monday through Wednesday evening that week.
During Holy Week, I encourage everyone to take Good Friday off work so that you can attend the Triduum liturgies, the holiest liturgies of the year. Holy Thursday evening is the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, on Good Friday is the Veneration of the Cross in the afternoon, and Tenebrae in the evening. During the night of Holy Saturday is the highest Mass of the year, the Easter Vigil. There is great spiritual profit in attending all these liturgies, so come to as many as you can.
God Bless,
Fr. Boniface
