Eigth Sunday of Ordinary Time

by Fr. Boniface Endorf, OP

Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,

We have lot coming up at St. Joseph’s, meaning we have many announcements this week:

This Wednesday Lent starts with Ash Wednesday. We have Ash Wednesday Masses at 8am, 12:10pm, 5pm, and 7pm.

Now is the time to start determining your Lenten Penances, which traditionally include penance, fasting, and almsgiving. All Catholics are called to abstain from meat during Fridays of Lent and those between the ages of 18 and 59 are called to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday (one full meal and up to two snacks that don’t equal a full meal). You should decide on what personal penances you should undertake this Lent, picking ones that will help you most in your spiritual life.

Every Friday during Lent we’ll pray the Stations of the Cross at 7pm in the main church.

This Tuesday, Fat Tuesday, we’ll have a Young Professional party at 7pm in McGuire Hall. All young adults are invited.

This Friday we will have an Arthouse2B mass for Artists in the main church.

Next Friday, 3/14, we’ll have our next NightFire from 8pm-11pm. It’s a great event open to everyone, with music, adoration, and confessions, all in the candlelit church.

Next Saturday, 3/15, is our annual St. Joseph dinner. Tickets are on sale after every Sunday Mass so please grab yours before they sell out. The dinner will after the Vigil Mass (i.e.: 6:30pm). I hope to see everyone there—it’s always a fun night.

Finally, next Sunday is our annual Cardinal’s Appeal in pew, so please pray about supporting the Archdiocese this year.

God bless & Please continue to pray for the success of the Boiler Fund,
Fr. Boniface
