Presentation of the Lord
by Fr. Boniface Endorf, OP
Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,
This Monday, 2/3, is the Memorial of St. Blaise. At the daily Mass for St. Blaise, at 12:10pm Monday, we’ll have the annual St. Blaise throat blessing. St. Blaise was a 4th century bishop in Armenia and was also a physician, and at times a healer of animals too. He famously saved a boy who was choking on a fish bone, which is how he became associated with throat blessings. He was martyred by government officials when he refused to worship pagan idols and is now the patron saint of animals and throat ailments. You can experience his intercession by attending Mass Monday and receiving his throat blessing.
God bless,
Fr. Boniface
