Second Sunday of Advent

by Fr. Boniface Endorf, OP

Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,

This Monday, 12/9, is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. It’s a Holy Day of Obligation, so all Catholics are required to attend mass. We’ll have our normal 12:10pm daily mass, and a 7pm mass that day.

Next weekend St. Vincent Ferrer, our other Dominican parish in Manhattan, on 65th & Lex, is hosting the relics of St. Thomas Aquinas. The relics have been kept with the Dominicans in Toulouse, France, for centuries, and this may be the first time they’ve ever traveled to the United States. The relics include St. Thomas’s skull, and are the treasure of the Toulouse Province of Dominicans. You can reverence them next Saturday night, 12/14, from 7pm until 7am, so an overnight vigil, and on Sunday, 12/15, from 1pm-2pm in the church of St. Vincent Ferrer.

God Bless,
Fr. Boniface
