nineteenth sunday of ordinary time
by Fr. Boniface Endorf, O.P
Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,
Today is my five-year anniversary as pastor of St. Joseph’s! It’s been a great five years and I’m honored to have been able to serve you this past half decade. I look forward to many more years to come at St. Joseph’s!
Looking back it’s been a lot of construction! We’ve rebuilt the interior and exterior of the church, put in a new AC system, a new roof, a wheelchair lift, and built a parish hall and adoration chapel! I once listed all the projects so that future pastors will know what was done and the list came to three pages! However, I’m excited that finally all the major construction is done and there is no more delayed maintenance to remedy. I look forward to putting more focus into building ministry and community here at St. Joseph’s. Thank you for all your prayers and support these past five years!
God Bless,
Fr. Boniface
Mass Tidbit:
We’ve now completed the first list of names in the Roman canon and can move to the next part of the Eucharistic prayer. It reads: “Therefore, Lord, we pray: graciously accept this oblation of our service, that of your whole family; order our days in your peace, and command that we be delivered from eternal damnation and counted among the flock of those you have chosen. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.”
Here we pray again that God accept the sacrifice of the Mass we’re about to celebrate, our oblation of the water and wine, about to become the Body and Blood of Christ, and of ourselves serving God. We pray for our whole family, the Church, and ask for God’s peace. Ultimately, we pray for salvation: freedom to be the chosen ones of God destined for eternal life in heaven.
We’re about to enter the consecration, so this prayer sums up what we seek through this Mass: our salvation in Christ. Let us remember in our daily lives that Christ’s salvation is our ultimate goal and all our lives should be ordered to it. In Christ’s salvation we find fulfillment of the deepest desires of our heart.
