The Hound of Heaven by Christopher Mullen

Last year one of our new parishioners, Christopher Patrick Mullen (an actor), began work on Francis Thompson's poem “The Hound of Heaven” in the hopes of performing the 182 line masterpiece for St Joseph's parish.

In preparing for this unique "ministry" his research led to him an astounding but little known story of two lost souls, a dive bar, a hot young playwright, an even hotter young activist, and a chronic homeless dude who just may be the greatest English poet since Shakespeare. The year was 1917. The location was a tavern at the corner of 6th Avenue & West 4th Street.

Join us for the full story and a very special performance of Thompson's poem “The Hound of Heaven” on Wednesday, May 4th at 7:30 PM.
