On Saturday, May 10, at the regularly scheduled 5:30 p.m. Mass, Canticum Scholare, an early music vocal ensemble based here at St. Joseph's Church, will be singing select pieces from William Byrd's, "Mass for Four Voices." This is a unique opportunity to hear Byrd's Mass performed in its proper liturgical setting, the way it was intended back in the Renaissance.
Canticum Scholare is under the artistic direction of our own Jin Krista Kang, the director of music for traditional liturgies at St. Joseph's. Some of Canticum's singers are also regular choristers at St. Joseph's 11:30 a.m. Mass.
