Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,
Please remember that RCIA starts next Sunday (October 4th), so if you know people interested in becoming Catholic please invite them. RCIA is also for adult Catholics who have not yet received confirmation– if that's you, please join us and receive the grace God wants to give you. RCIA meets after the 11:30am Sunday Mass.
The boxcast system has been installed and we'll begin livestreaming the Masses with that system. It will have much better audio and video quality and have a wider shot because it's mounted in the choir loft. That means that we can use the ambo (pulpit) again. We've been using the lectern rather than the large ambo so that it can fit in the shot when recording with a cell phone. Now we'll be using the ambo again!
Some quick notes on the construction:
•The repair work on the school building should be complete by mid-October. They are currently putting a new roof on the school building and repointing and waterproofing the walls and repairing the leaky skylights.
•We're about to begin asbestos abatement in the future McGuire Hall, and we are choosing the winning bid for the construction work. The architects say that it won't be ready by Christmas because of the long delay due to the pandemic. My hope is that it will be ready for our next St. Joseph Parish Dinner.
•The rectory elevator repairs are almost complete.
•The perpetual adoration chapel designs are in, and the next step is fundraising. I'll raise the money outside St. Joseph's because the chapel will serve the whole city. We're working on a website for the project, and when it's ready you can see the designs and keep up with the project. I hope that it will be ready to use by this time next year.
•We are hoping to implement the security upgrade as soon as possible. We want to update the locks and camera system in the church and rectory.
Please keep St. Joe's in your prayers & God Bless,
Fr. Boniface
